Greg Porter, Pastor

Pastor Greg started at First Baptist Church, New Glasgow, as pastor in February 2026. Previous to this, Greg has served in several churches as Lead Pastor, which include Truro Heights Baptist, Hartland Baptist and Springhill Baptist. He has also served as Camp Director for Camp Pagweak for three summers.

Pastor Greg is married to a Candice and they have two sons Benjamin (Calgary) and Camden (at home). They are also blessed with three grandchildren. They also have a Golden Retriever named Willow.

After working for Sobeys Inc for 18 years in various positions, and in various locations, Greg and Candice bought a Café and Bakery in Shelburne Nova Scotia. After this, Greg felt a call into ministry and graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Theology.

Greg says, “I have a love for serving Jesus and desire to be His hands and feet here in Pictou County and beyond. I believe that youth is the future of the Church and desire to lead people to Christ, in Christ and with Christ.”

Pastor Greg looks forward to serving the Lord in Pictou County as we grow together. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “So encourage each other and build each other up…”  I look forward to the blessing of being God’s shepherd here in New Glasgow.
